🚨NEW ATTACK ON ELON & X | EU LIES
False claims are circulating that Elon will pull X out of the EU due to a baseless 'compliance investigation'.
The European Commission sent X a letter accusing them of “being used to disseminate illegal content and disinformation in the EU” following the attacks in Israel.
Elon responded directly to the European Commissioner on X, telling him that X’s policy is OPEN SOURCE and TRANSPARENT.
He asked the Commissioner to “please list the violations you allude to on 𝕏 so that the public can see them.”
The commissioner refused to discuss this publicly, and gave NO EXAMPLES to the public to back his claims.
Elon AGAIN pushed to have this conversation publicly, striving for transparency, but received no response.
FAKE REPORTS DEJA VU:
This reminds me of the debunked CCDH report that labelled X a ‘Hate Speech’ platform a few months ago.
When we investigated it, I realized their research only considered 300 posts out of the HALF A BILLION daily posts (0.00006%!), and only from 100 accounts out of the 1.3 BILLION accounts on X (0.0000076%!!)
And these 100 accounts were manually chosen with intent, as they conveniently posted divisive content.
And to make matters even worse, 30% of these accounts were actually removed by X during the research! 😂
This is a perfect example of how anyone can conduct a ‘research report’ and tamper with the data to create a fake narrative.
FACT: X INCREASED THEIR MONITORING AFTER THE HAMAS ATTACKS
On October 9th, two days after the terrorist attack, the X safety team put out a post sharing:
“We’ve also taken action under our Violent and Hateful Entities Policy to remove newly created Hamas-affiliated accounts, and we’re currently coordinating with industry peers through Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism to try and prevent terrorist content from being distributed online.”
They also made it clear they updated SEVERAL of their policies to make sure they can continue to get users accurate information.
In the same post, they also shared that X removed tens of thousands of posts that have violated these terms, and they have taken action to remove hundreds of accounts due to violation of Terms Of Service.
So not only does X have LESS ‘Hate Speech’ in comparison to other social media platforms, according to a detailed unbiased report by Sprinklr, but they’ve INCREASED their moderation to ensure Hate Speech does not increase during this unfortunate war.
So why is the EU Commission still targeting Elon and X?
Why aren't Meta and TikTok being treated the same?
MY THOUGHTS:
There is NO REASON for Elon to pull X from the EU. The EU Commissioner’s claims can be easily disproven, which is likely why he didn't discuss the matter publicly.
The X team has continued to update the policies and Terms Of Uses, addressing ‘Hate Speech’ without infringing on our ‘Freedom Of Speech’, something other social media platforms don’t seem to care about.
If X is to be the platform for Citizen Journalists, disrupting mainstream media, regulators need to treat the platform fairly.
If they have GENUINE, NON-AGENDA-DRIVEN problems, then they can transparently list them publicly!
