🇺🇸 SPEAKER JOHNSON NAVIGATES PRESSURE TO PASS CRUCIAL FUNDING BILL With a shutdown hours away, Speaker Mike Johnson managed to pass a bipartisan funding bill after previous failed attempts. Under intense pressure from Trump to include a debt ceiling hike, Johnson worked around the demand, focusing instead on disaster relief and temporary funding through March. The Senate passed it 85-11 just past the deadline. At midnight, the White House announced it had halted shutdown preparations. Source: AP News

🚨🇺🇸BREAKING: SENATE GREENLIGHTS PLAN C TO KEEP THE GOVERNMENT FUNDED—FINALLY After missing the midnight deadline and sparking a brief government shutdown, the Senate passed a stopgap bill early Saturday to keep federal operations running through March. Yes, it took three tries to get here. The bill includes disaster relief and farming aid but dodges Trump’s push to suspend the debt ceiling—because heaven forbid Congress tackles a big issue head-on. “Plan C” came after a bipartisan plan ignored GOP priorities and a Trump-backed proposal was torpedoed in the House. Looks like Washington chose the path of least resistance, leaving Trump’s call for a long-term fix on hold. I guess Congress is saying "Why solve a problem today when you can kick it down the road until March?" Biden says he’ll sign the bill, sending everyone home for the holidays—because who needs another political meltdown before Christmas? Source: CNN

🚨🇺🇸🇮🇱 JUDGE SLAMS ISRAELI SPYWARE FIRM OVER WHATSAPP SPYWARE LAWSUIT A federal judge sanctioned Israeli spyware firm NSO Group for dodging court orders in WhatsApp’s lawsuit over Pegasus, the spyware that allegedly hacked 1,400 phones, including those of journalists and activists. NSO tried blaming Israeli law for refusing to share the full source code, offering access only in Israel. The judge called the excuse “simply impracticable” for a U.S. trial and hit NSO with sanctions, saying it broke U.S. computer fraud laws. Nice try, though. Pegasus lets hackers control your phone’s camera, mic, and location—even through a missed call. NSO insists it only sells to “vetted” governments, but the U.S. blacklisted it in 2021. WhatsApp Spokesperson: “After five years of litigation, we're grateful for today's decision. NSO can no longer avoid accountability for their unlawful attacks on WhatsApp, journalists, human rights activists and civil society." Source: Courthouse News

🇺🇸 NICOLE SHANAHAN: THE U.S. GOVERNMET ISN'T IMPROVING OUR HEALTH "$15,000 per person a year in health care expenses, and yet we're 49th in life expectancy. Doesn't reconcile. Where is that money going?" Source: RSBN, @NicoleShanahan

🚨 EARLY-STAGE CANCER? THERE’S A FINGERPRINT FOR THAT Scientists in Barcelona have found a way to catch cancer early by reading ribosome “fingerprints.” Ribosomes, the cell’s protein factories, carry chemical marks that are like molecular name tags—and cancer cells can’t keep theirs intact. Using nanopore sequencing (think a portable lab in your hand), researchers scanned ribosomal RNA from lung cancer patients and spotted these messed-up marks with near-perfect accuracy. Even stage I cancers couldn’t hide. Talk about getting caught red-handed. Next goal? Turning this into a simple blood test. No cutting, no drama, just science kicking cancer where it hurts. 🇺🇸 NICOLE SHANAHAN: ELON WANTS US TO BE AN INTERPLANETARY SPECIES "I don't know anyone as obsessed with it as him, but, here's the thing. In order for us to be an interplanetary species, we have to meet our biological needs here on earth first." Source: RSBN, @NicoleShanahan, @ElonMusk

🚨 SCIENTISTS DISCOVER A NEW WEIRD, WIGGLY STATE OF MATTER?! Physicists found “quantum spin liquid” in a material called pyrochlore cerium stannate, where magnetic particles refuse to chill—even at -459.67°F. Using neutron scattering, they spotted “spinons,” particles that split a magnetic charge in half and act like they’re stuck in a never-ending game of quantum tag. These particles even swap light-like waves, defying normal physics in ways that scream, “Science is wild.” This breakthrough not only proves quantum spin liquids exist but might lead to quantum computers—or at least some mind-blowing new physics. 🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 IRANIAN OFFICER CHARGED IN MURDER OF AMERICAN TEACHER Mohammad Reza Nouri, 36, an Iranian officer with the IRGC, allegedly masterminded the murder of Stephen Troell, a Tennessee teacher living in Baghdad. Prosecutors say Nouri spied on Troell’s daily routine, collected details like his address and even his kids’ names, and coordinated a hit squad. The squad ambushed Troell as he drove home with his wife. Nouri fled to Iran after the attack, where he gave the killers a warm welcome and called Troell a spy. Now Nouri’s facing charges for terrorism and murder. If convicted, it’s life in prison—or worse. Source: Department of Justice Media Source: @GLNoronha

🚨🇺🇸 FORMER BANK TELLER BUSTED FOR SWIPING $180K FROM CUSTOMERS Derek Aut, 28, of Saugus, MA, approximately 9 miles northeast of Boston, allegedly decided being a TD Bank teller wasn’t paying enough—so he “borrowed” $180K from two customers. When one noticed the missing cash, prosecutors say Aut panicked and tried covering it up by swiping from another account. Spoiler: It didn’t work. TD Bank fired him in April 2024 and called the cops. If convicted, he’s looking at 30 years in prison and a $1M fine. That’s a lot of overdraft fees. Source: NBC News Boston

ELON: D.O.G.E. WILL BE AN ATTACK ON THE MATRIX “I have discussed with Trump the idea of a government efficiency commission. Amazon Workers: "GET UP, GET DOWN, NEW YORK IS A UNION TOWN!" Thousands, including Teamsters union members, are demanding better pay and working conditions, with seven delivery hubs already caught in the chaos. Just what Jeff Bezos needed for Christmas, right? At midnight, even more workers from a unionized warehouse in New York are expected to join in. Guess Amazon’s holiday rush is looking more like a standstill. 🇺🇸NICOLE SHANAHAN: DEMOCRATS KEEP TRYING TO BLACKMAIL US "We see versions of this emotional blackmail all over America today, preying on our emotions and our vulnerabilities. 🚨🇺🇸🇸🇾 U.S. SCRAPS $10M BOUNTY ON HTS LEADER U.S. officials informed Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Syria’s de facto power broker, that the $10 million bounty on his head is now off the table. Guess Jolani’s officially been downgraded from “most wanted” to “not worth it.” The State Department even deleted his wanted poster from its website—because nothing says “you’re free to go” like hitting the delete key. 🇺🇸 FRIEDBERG: THE FOUNDING FATHERS COMMITTED A CRUCIAL MISTAKE "The biggest mistake the founding fathers made was that they didn't create constitutional limits on spending and enrichment. This was because they had these deeply held philosophical beliefs that relied on the house of representatives to provide a check by the people. But in the federalist papers 10 and 51, James Madison emphasized that the structure of government was meant to ensure that both state and federal governments would limit each other's excesses, including their financial ones." 🚨🇺🇸BREAKING: SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM ANNOUNCED AS NEXT SENATE BUDGET COMMITTEE CHAIR U.S. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) announced the Senate Republican Conference committee assignments for the 119th Congress. These assignments have been ratified by the Senate Republican Conference and are expected to be formally approved by the full Senate early next Congress. Sen. Lindsey Graham will lead the Senate Budget Committee, tasked with overseeing the reconciliation process and pushing key legislative priorities. Graham: “I am honored to have been elected Senate Budget Committee Chairman by the Republican conference. The Senate Budget Committee – through the reconciliation process – will aggressively push the most transformational border security bill in American history and revitalize our military. We’re going to give President Trump and his team the resources they need to finish the wall, put technology on the border to obtain operational control, hire more ICE agents to deport gang members and criminals, and create more detention space so we don’t have to release illegal immigrants into the country. We will make the Navy bigger and more lethal. We are going to do all of this in weeks, not months.”

🇺🇸FRIEDBERG: WE'VE LOST SIGHT OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S PURPOSE "The objective of the republic was to have the states make local decisions about how to take care of their infrastructure. 🇺🇸TRUMP REPORTEDLY PULLED THE STRINGS ON NEW HOUSE FUNDING BILL Speaker Johnson admitted to constant contact with Trump during the negotiations, and the results speak for themselves. The bill gutted protections for the January 6 Committee and yanked funding from a State Department agency accused of silencing conservatives. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the bill went from a bloated 1,500 pages to a neat 120, with $20B for agricultural disasters and $10B to throw a lifeline to struggling farmers. 🚨🇲🇾 MALAYSIA GREENLIGHTS ANOTHER SHOT AT FINDING MH370 Nearly a decade after MH370 vanished with 239 people on board, Malaysia has given Ocean Infinity another chance to do what years of searching couldn’t—find the plane. Armed with fresh data and plenty of optimism, the UK- and US-based firm will scour 5,800 square miles of the Indian Ocean. The deal? “No find, no fee.” If they hit the jackpot, Malaysia owes them $70 million. The search is expected to kick off in early 2025, during prime ocean-scouring season, January to April. Families, still desperate for answers, hope this isn’t just another wild goose chase. After all, some debris turned up years ago, but the mystery still has more twists than a Netflix docuseries. Fingers crossed this time someone actually finds something. Source: CBS
