🇺🇸🇹🇷🇫🇮 Hex crypto founder Richard Heart has reportedly been detained in Istanbul alongside his wife, following an Interpol Red Notice issued at Finland's request.
Turkish authorities reportedly seized 12 phones, several laptops, firearms, drones, gold jewelry, and large amounts of cash during the operation.
Heart, whose real name is Richard James Schueler, has been wanted by Finnish authorities over alleged aggravated tax fraud, with a separate assault allegation also reported.
In 2023, the U.S. SEC accused Heart of raising more than $1 billion through unregistered crypto offerings and misusing at least $12 million of investor funds on luxury purchases, including a 555-carat black diamond.
However, the SEC case was dismissed in 2025 over jurisdictional issues, and the regulator chose not to pursue it further.
It remains unclear whether Finland will seek Heart's extradition from Turkey.
