🇸🇦 🇾🇪 Shipping one barrel of oil across the world now costs $30... and it has shattered the global oil market.
Rory Johnston says the Houthis hit Riyadh's airport on the very day oil's top leaders were flying in for the World Petroleum Congress, and now every refinery and loading terminal on the Saudi Red Sea coast sits square in the bull's eye.
Moving a barrel used to cost a couple of bucks:
"Now that same journey is $30 a barrel, and you've effectively shattered the global oil market into a dozen regional oil markets."
Until shipping gets cheap again, one region drowns in oil while the next one runs dry.

Spreads show the fragmentation: this week Brent traded near $105 while WTI sat near $92. When shipping risk splits the market, barrels that avoid chokepoints become strategic.
