🇬🇧 Nearly half of Britons say there are NO circumstances under which they would fight for their country, even as the UK prepares to spend billions more on defense.
A new Ipsos poll found that 48% would refuse to fight under any circumstances, compared with just 36% who said they would be willing.
The figures have barely changed since April 2025.
Among adults aged 35–54, 54% said they would never take up arms for Britain.
Yet support for higher military spending is growing, with 51% now backing an increase, compared with 28% in 2022.
Britain is aiming to raise core defense spending to 3.5% of GDP by 2035.
But how much can a country strengthen its military if so many of its citizens are unwilling to fight?
