He's charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder over the 1996 shootdown of 2 unarmed Brothers to the Rescue planes, which killed 4 men from Florida. Prosecutors say Castro, then Cuba's defense minister, gave a standing order to shoot the planes down. Cuban MiGs hit them over international waters, with no warning. The court ordered no bond, and a federal indictment is already on the books. ARTEX was built in China to test cyberdefenses. Turns out it’s pretty good at breaking them too, with researchers tying it to many of the recent attacks in Japan, all run from one server setup aimed almost entirely at Japanese targets. Around 20 companies got hit and 8 have already owned up to data leaks, with names like Daiwa Securities and SoftBank caught in the wider wave. The IDF and Shin Bet say the sites held dozens of weapons, including RPGs, launchers, rockets and Kalashnikovs, all used by Hamas’ military wing. The army says it warned residents beforehand and used precision munitions to limit the risk to civilians, and vows to keep hitting any attempt by Hamas to rebuild or stockpile weapons. The PLA Navy says it tracked the USS Charleston near Sabina Shoal in the Spratly Islands, and warned that its forces “remain on high alert at all times.” Beijing claims “indisputable sovereignty” over the area. The Philippines would beg to differ, since the shoal sits about 140 km off its island of Palawan, well inside its own exclusive economic zone.
