🇺🇸 I asked Ron Paul a pretty cynical question:
How many people in Congress actually care about the public, and how many are just there for themselves?
His answer surprised me.
He thinks most of them actually arrive with decent intentions.
The problem, in his view, is the system they enter.
Money, lobbying, political pressure and control over institutions gradually shape what politicians are willing to do.
Paul’s point is almost painfully simple:
We expect ordinary people not to lie, cheat, steal or kill.
Then we create a government structure where power somehow makes those same rules negotiable.
Maybe the problem isn’t that every politician is corrupt.
Maybe the machine is just very good at teaching them how to become useful to it.
