Are they dead?” An investigation by QNN has revealed the identities and final known moments of two Palestinian women: 75-year-old Aisha Bakr al-Aqqad and her daughter Huda, who were filmed blindfolded inside an Israeli military vehicle during the genocide in Gaza, before disappearing without a trace. Israeli forces stormed their home in Khan Younis after the women chose not to flee, believing their area would remain safe. During the raid, soldiers killed Aisha’s husband inside the house and detained their son Iyad. “Iyad told the lawyer that Israeli soldiers killed his father and arrested him,” a relative said. The family says they have received no information since. Attempts to locate them through the Red Cross yielded nothing, leaving their fate unknown as fears grow for Aisha, who was already in fragile health.

56 years ago today, the Kent State massacre unfolded, where four students were killed and nine others were wounded for protesting the expanding involvement of the Vietnam War. Instead of universal outrage at the murder of innocent students, there were voices saying that they were sorry “they didn’t killed more.” These weren’t one off, fringe voices. They were part of a broader climate that cast student protestors as threats rather than people exercising their right to dissent. It’s hard not to hear echoes today. The language might be different, but the logic is the same: delegitimize dissent, frame students as dangerous, and make state repression seem like the reasonable and obvious solution. “Go inside, he will kill you” A 14-year-old Palestinian student, Aws al-Naasan, was shot in the head and killed outside his school in al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, after an Israeli reservist took position on a nearby hillside and opened fire toward the school. The Guardian reports testimonies from teachers and students describing scenes of terror, with children hiding in stairwells as staff rushed to secure the building. Teachers shouted warnings “go inside, he will kill you”, as gunfire rang out. Aws collapsed instantly, and his classmates carried his bleeding body along the school wall, leaving a trail of blood, but he died before reaching medical care. Minutes later, the same attacker shot and killed 36-year-old Jihad Abu Naim, whose wife is pregnant with their first child.

He was clearly identified as press and was working in the field when he was struck in the neck by an Israeli gunfire. He survived the attack but was critically wounded during this Israeli military operation in the area while reporting on displacement and ongoing attacks, which caused severe spinal cord injury and paralysis. His evacuation was delayed for months, as repeated medical transfer requests were not approved by Israel for a period of time, despite his life-threatening condition and urgent appeals from medical teams.
